When God’s Timing Feels Slow
“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you…” — 2 Peter 3:9
We live in a world of instant results — fast shipping, instant streaming, and information at our fingertips. But God’s kingdom doesn’t run on our clocks. Sometimes His promises take months, years, or even decades to unfold. Waiting can feel frustrating, discouraging, and even lonely.
The Tension of Waiting
When we pray and nothing seems to change, it’s tempting to think God has forgotten. But delays are not denials. God’s timing is perfect because He sees what we cannot — the full picture.
Think of Joseph in Genesis. From the moment he had his dream to the day he stood before Pharaoh, years passed. Those years weren’t wasted; they were preparation.
What Waiting Produces
Deeper Dependence: Waiting shifts our focus from what we want to who God is.
Strengthened Faith: Every step in the delay builds spiritual muscle.
Refined Character: The waiting room is where patience, humility, and trust grow.
Faith in Motion in the Waiting
Waiting doesn’t mean doing nothing. While you wait, you can keep walking in obedience — loving others, serving faithfully, praying continually. Your delay might be the very place someone else receives their blessing through you.
Walk It Out
Write down one area where you’re waiting on God. Each day this week, pray over it and then take one small step of faith in another area of your life. Keep moving while you wait.
Love in Action
Encourage someone else who is in a waiting season. Send them a Bible verse about God’s timing, take them out for coffee, or simply remind them that they are seen and loved.
